About Me and Goals For the Class

My name is Adam Bunch, and it is with great excitement that I have the privilege of teaching History at your school this year.   I am a new teacher, having recently graduated from CSU Pueblo with a degree in History and a minor in Education.    I am very excited to begin this journey with all of you.

Believe it or not, history can be fun!  Really, you can stop laughing.  I am completely serious, and I intend to prove it.  History is about much more than dates and names to tediously memorize; it is the people, and how we are connected, that makes history interesting.  The stories - some sad, others happy, some which tell tales of great triumph, others filled with tragedy and sorrow - and how they have led us to where we are today are what makes history fun to learn about.  I fully intend to design a curriculum which will actively engage students in the material, making the experience of learning History more dynamic, memorable, and yes, even fun.  My ultimate goal for the class is to help students build a better understanding of the world and its many diverse cultures, develop critical thinking skills, and to remind students to always ask questions and to think beyond what lies on the surface.

As for myself, I want to teach because I want to make a positive impact on the world, and teaching provides a great opportunity to do just that.  As a student, I was inspired by several great teachers who not only made learning interesting and fun, but helped me and other young students in ways that simply cannot be measured by a test or final grade.  I feel very lucky to have had such passionate teachers in my life, and it is my goal to pay it forward by continuing the example they set for me and countless other students.

I am very passionate about History, but I have many other interests as well.  My favorite hobbies at the moment are playing guitar and cooking.  Music has always been a tremendous outlet for me, and I feel very fortunate to have a natural affinity for playing it.  Cooking is another creative outlet for me, and once some of the basics are learned, it becomes quite fun to create new meals.  And who doesn't love to eat?
